Is the Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix Series Real? Here’s What We Know

Astarion and Karlach, two of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most iconic characters, rumoured to appear in the upcoming Netflix series

Word on the street says a Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix series might be in the works—and I’ve got ears sharper than a tabaxi on payday. Netflix is building a live-action Dungeons & Dragons show called The Forgotten Realms, and the setting? It’s the same world where Astarion, Karlach, and the rest of the gang made their names.

So, of course, I had to sneak behind a few curtains and lift a few scrolls (don’t ask from where). And what I found might just put a twinkle in your adventurer’s eye.

The Forgotten Realms Comes to Life

Netflix has confirmed it’s working on a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series called The Forgotten Realms. It’s not tied to Honour Among Thieves—thank the gods—but it is set in places we know and love: Baldur’s Gate, Waterdeep, Neverwinter. You know, the classics.

Big names are behind it, too. Shawn Levy—the mind behind Stranger Things and the new Deadpool & Wolverine—is producing. That means monsters, mayhem, and likely some heart. The showrunner is Drew Crevello, and while I’ve never heard of him pulling a heist, I’m willing to give him a chance.

Will the Baldur’s Gate 3 Characters Appear?

This is where things get tasty.

There’s no official word (yet), but the signs are all pointing in the same direction. The Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix series theory isn’t just wishful thinking—it’s backed by a trail of clues even I could follow in the dark.

  • Miniatures of Astarion, Karlach, and Shadowheart were spotted in Wizards’ latest release, Project Sigil.
  • Astarion’s face is on the cover of the updated Monster Manual—looking sharp, literally.
  • The voice actors? They’re all in. Neil Newbon (Astarion) and Devora Wilde (Lae’zel) have both said they’d love to play their roles in live action.

If I were laying bets, I’d say it’s just a matter of time.

Why the Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix Series Matters

You might ask, “Why does this matter if I’m already deep into my campaign?”

Because this series could bring more adventurers into our world. New players. New stories. New chaos. And it shows that Wizards of the Coast knows these characters aren’t just pixels and dice rolls anymore—they’re icons.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix series could be our gateway (pun absolutely intended) to seeing beloved party members like Astarion, Karlach, and Shadowheart come alive not just in our heads, but on screens around the world.

What We Still Don’t Know

  • No release date yet.
  • No casting announcements.
  • No official confirmation of any Baldur’s Gate 3 character appearances.

But trust me—this smoke smells a lot like fire.

Final Thoughts from Your Favourite Sneak

I don’t usually believe rumours. But I do believe in patterns. And right now, everything is pointing toward a big reveal. So keep your ears open and your daggers sharp. If Astarion’s heading to Netflix, I’ll be the first one watching—preferably from a rooftop, under a moonlit sky, with a mug of something strong.

Until then? Keep chasing the next great story.
